Leicester gains deserved win

March 30th, EHCCC in Hamburg: Leicester HC – Ata Sport 2:0 (1:0)

30.03.2013 - In the first match of the second day of the EHCCC in Hamburg English champion Leicester gained an important win over Azerbaijan champion Ata Sport. After an even first quarter Leicester increased the pressure in the second period and scored the well deserved lead by a penalty corner of Katie Long after 26 minutes. Despite further chances for Long and Emma Clarke the halftime result remained 1:0.

In the beginning of the second half the spectators saw an even fight again. Leicester had less problems to defend the own circle and more and more took over the control of the match again. After missing several penalty corners it lasted until the 62nd minute when another corner was awarded and Jo Hunter converted the rebound shot into the net. In the final minutes Leicester held on the pressure to score again but the Ata defence did not concede another goal until the final hooter.
