31.03.2013 - Rot-Weiss Köln advances to the semifinal of EuroHockey Club Champions Cup in Hamburg after managing a 1:1 (1:0)-Draw agains the English Champion Leicester HC. The tie game was narrowly enough to remain on the second place in Pool B, to be entitled to the semifinal.
It was clear, that Leicester will need the win to advance to the next round. So both teams started with a impressive speed, but didn't find the way into the circles very often. With the second chance of the match, Anne Geiter scores with a backhand shot from the left side. After that, the German team was dropping the pace a little bit.
At the start of the third quarter, Rot-Weiss came back stronger again, but Leicester made the goal. Sarah Cockayne scores after a penalty corner with a nice flick into the upper left angle. After that the game goes up and down the pitch with some good chances on both sides. Leicester had the opportunity to win with their tenth corner, but Cologne defended it well an reached the semifinal well deserved.
