MHC Laren with a hard fought first win

April, 28th, ECCC in Hamburg, Larensche MHC – Leicester HC 2:1 (1:1)

28.03.2013 - In the first match of the ECCC in Hamburg title holder MHC Laren was facing English Champion Leiceser HC. And the Dutch surprised their opponents with a very early goal. Vicky van Broek scored with a backhand shot in the first minute. But Leicester stroke back with their first chance. Kerry Williams converted a penalty corner ('8).

Laren fought hard to recapture the lead. But Leicester showed a strong defensive performance. They allowed just a few chances and goalie Maddy Hinch had some good saves. So it was 1:1 at halftime. But like in the first half, Laren scored an early goal. Maxime Kerstholt smashed the ball from the left side of the circle in the net ('38).

Leicester never gave up, but they only were able to create a very few chances against a strong Dutch defense. On the other side Laren had good chances on counter attacks, but failed to score a third goal.
