Host UHC scored a last-minute equalizer against Grodno

29.03.2013 - In the last match of day one at the EHCCC in Hamburg host Uhlenhorst was facing Ritm Grodno from Belarus. The team from Hamburg dominated the starting phase, but wasn't able to create dangerous situations in the Grodno circle. The Belorussians impressed with good counter attacks. In quarter two one of these fast attacks gave Yuliya Laptsievich the chance to convert a rebound for the 1-0 lead. Uhlenhorst struggled to score the equalizer, but made too many mistakes in the fast playmaking.

UHC increased the pressure in quarter three. Two corners were not converted. But when Eileen Hoffmann intercepted in minute 49, her pass found Vivien Tahal at the left post and the youngster leveled the score. Grodno were still very dangerous with their few counter attacks. The host team pressed the Belorussians hard, but Grodno presented a solid defensive work.

When Uhlenhorst fought for the winner, Grodno punished their offensive style with a counter attack and the resulting first two penalty corners. On the second corner Notman saved on the line, but Bahushevich was able to push the bouncing ball from one meter in the German goal. Now a furios finish of the team from Hamburg started. They replaced their goalkeeper with an elenth field player. And with 13 seconds on the clock Kristina Hillmann scored the lucky but well deserved equalizer.
