Tina Brullo (Australia, currently in Qatar)

Involved in the event side of hockey running tournaments ie World Cup, Champions Trophys Commonwealth Games, Olympics Games as well as my involvement with the Youth Panel.

Expectations for the Festival: Another event where we get to enlighten the youth with another side of hockey which they can take back to their country or club and share this knowledge and hopefully get more people involved in the sport.

Claudia Klatt (Germany)

Played since I was 7 still playing and loving it, love the fact that you can play with all age groups, have coached children for almost 10 years, have always wanted to raise awareness to this beautiful sport therefore I chose to try and make it more present in the media and still do that, have organised numerous international tournaments in Berlin which was very enjoyable

Expectations for the Festival: To deepen the love of the participants for this great game and make them want to be and stay a part of the network that promotes hockey

Ben Glencross (Australia, currently in Scotland)

Started playing when I was 12 in Adelaide, Australia. Played for club and school, coached school teams. Moved to University in Perth and got a job coaching in Schools. Took over running the programme and then started on Hockey Development Officer positions. Been Development Manager for Scottish Hockey for 7 years. Restructured youth hockey, attracted funding, set up club development programme and supported development of youth hockey.

Expectations for the Festival: Opportunity to share ideas with people from different countries, to learn about the culture of hockey in other countries and make new friends.

Gill Gemming (New Zealand)

I have been the Oceania Continental Development Officer since 2002. My involvement with hockey started as a player in my youth and involved playing at representative levels in both New Zealand and Australia. As teaching was my initial career, coaching quickly became my passion. I have been fortunate enough to combine both into a lifetime career working first fulltime for Hockey NZ as their Coaching and Development Manager and then into my current role. My main interest is writing practical resources that support coaches and umpires, particularly those who are teachers within primary schools, so that they are encouraged to introduce hockey to their students.

Expectations for the Festival:

  1. To create a positive safe environment for the participants so that they can fully enjoy and feel confident to extend themselves and enrich their lives with new friends.
  2. To build on the success of the previous festivals, especially utilising those that have been participants in the past and demonstrating to the current participant’s positive outcomes that the original festival experience has given them.
  3. To gain more examples of innovative practice (types of activity that the youth leaders have been successfully involved in which can be shared with both the participants and also the staff).
  4. To encourage these participants to go back to their own region/country and continue to "give back".

 Gabrielle van Doorn (Netherlands)

I was, like many other Dutchies, born with a stick in my craddle. My mum was and still is very involved in hockey, did everything at the hockey club, so from the age of 4 I was supporting the first club team, helping in the canteen and experiencing all elements of club life. And I was eagerly waiting to start playing... which finally took place at the age of 7. I played for another 20 years, got my coaching diplomas, coached the club and regional U18s and started to work for the Dutch Hockey Association in 1989. In 1998, after the double WorldCup in Utrecht, I got appointed by the FIH as Development Manager. In 2001, during the Year of the Youth, I received support from 5 continental YotY project managers. This worked out so well, that the FIH appointed in 2002/3 5 FIH Continental Development Officers. During YotY we organised the first WorldHockey Festival, in Hobart, Australia. I can’t believe that we are youngsters now at Festival number 5, time flies! All the Festivals have been really special to me, as you meet so many passionate who I believe are gold for our hockey future. Enough examples of Festival participants that are now invaluable for their federation or club. I am still as excited as in 2001 to start the Festival – Mönchengladbach here we come!

Expectations for the Festival: Share (ideas), Dare (to take initiatives) & Care (for all members of our Global Family!)

Stephan Haumann (Germany)

I have been Involved in many things: in 2001 I was participant in the 1st WHYPF in Hobart (Australia), since 2002 I have been member of the DHB Youth Committee, Youth Board and other committees at the Deutscher Hockey-Bund. In 2005 I became a member of the FIH Development and Coaching Council. I was also responsible for the organisation of many national events (with national teams, the Youth Panel, etc.), Judge at international tournaments, TD of national tournaments and I umpired when I was young. My profession is “Hockey-Coach”. I started 1999 with coaching kids and now I am responsible for the youth section at “Schwarz-Weiß Köln” and I will be responsible for the youth section at “Uhlenhorster HC” in Hamburg from October. I also was assistant coach of the senior Turkish National team in 2008 and.. am involved in many other projects :-)

Expectations for the Festival: My expectation is very clear: I hope you “catch the fire” and bring it to your country. It won’t be easy and there will be a lot barriers but keep the fire glowing and fight for little developments, never losing sight of the big thing.

Jan-Hendrik Fischedick (Germany)

I got involved in hockey in 2000 when my first son, Kilian, started playing Hockey at the age of 6 at the club “TSC Eintracht Dortmund”. In the beginning, I was only spectator, but when people told me to start my high performance career, I started with the training. Not being nominated for the World Cup in Germany 2006 did cause a lack of motivation and I started with “Hockey for Parents” where I quite quickly got success!
Since 2008 I am part of the Youth Committee at the Deutscher Hockey-Bund and am responsible for “Sports for All". Since 2007 I became Vice President of my club TSC Eintracht Dortmund.

Expectations for the Festival: Giving (skip:the) young people ideas for their practice in their countries. (skip: The) Networking is also very important for the youth and the intercultural experience which we want to give (skip: support for) to our international guests.
