For young people between the ages 15 and 21
During the ANB AMRO Men’s Champions Trophy in Mönchengladbach (Germany), the FIH will organise, in close cooperation with the German Hockey Federation, the 5th World Youth Hockey Promoters Festival for young people between the ages 15 and 21. This festival is only for very special young people - Youth Hockey Promoters selected by National Associations.
Selection of National Youth Hockey Promoters
Over the last 6 months the National Associations (NAs) have selected their National Promoter(s). Most NAs have run a national competition, inviting candidates to design and submit hockey promotional projects or programmes, with the winner/s then being selected to participate in the Festival. Projects took the form of a (youth) hockey promotion plan, a website, a DVD, a poster, a workshop, a series of introduction sessions, or other activities designed to contribute significantly to the promotion and development of hockey at national level.
To earn the title "WorldHockey Promoter 2010"
In Mönchengladbach (Germany), the Promoters will enter the international competition, presenting their project or programme to the hockey world. The creator of the most outstanding contribution will earn the title “WorldHockey Promoter 2010”.
During the week the participants will follow youth leadership workshops, enabling them to try out different leadership roles in the areas of coaching, umpiring, communication, club development, fundraising and event management.
Each day will have a different “continental flavor”. Participants are staying with host families, to make the intercultural experience complete.
Participants
The participants represent the following countries: Australia, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, England, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Jamaica, Paraguay, Netherlands, Poland, Qatar, Scotland, Sweden, Thailand, Uganda, USA and Wales.
Aim of the WorldHockey Youth Promoters Festival is to create hockey development awareness among young people - who are our future coaches, managers, umpires, technical officials, event organizers or administrators - to promote hockey as a global sport played all around the world, and, last but not least, to give Youth a Voice.
