After the break the Germans again increased pressure on the English circle, and in the 41st minute Zeller received a nice pass from Witthaus, just scantly missing Fair's cage. England carried on with their fast counter-attacks, but Crone as last man with his 335th cap stood solid as a wall. The speed of the match much higher, in the 42nd minute the now offensive Emmerling saw Biederlack, who took the ball forward on the left side, making a beautiful pass back to Zeller in the circle, whose shot was just stopped by an English defenders foot. Christopher Zeller himself scored the German lead with the following penalty stroke, as he sent goalie Fair to the left while flicking the ball into the right angle.
Germany kept the pressure up, but could not convert a series of penalty corners. Zeller was also unable to finish his irresistible solo in the 49th minute with a goal, as James Fair made a brilliant save. The last ten minutes then saw a hectical match, as England threw everything forward to get the equalizer. It was keeper Bubolz who saved the German lead in the 64th minute, as Kirkham was through and nearly scored for England. The crowd frenetically supported the home team, and Germany managed to negate a second English goal until the end.
With this victory Germany now is much closer to reaching the quarter-finals. For the English team it will be very hard to remain in the tournament now.
