Today's match between South Africa and England got off to a slow start, each team sizing up their opponents. The first opportunity for a goal didn't come until the 10th minute, when McDade found a South African foot in the D, and consequently a short corner. Symons did not waste this chance and fired the ball in the bottom left corner of the goal.
Unfortunately the goal did not see the pace of the game pick up. The game returned to midfield as it had begun, and any advances into the attacking quarters by either team were soon overturned through inaccurate passing or individual mistakes.
England, unsurprisingly, found their equalizer from a free hit just outside the D. Tindall just managed to get his stick to the ball in by R Mantell, so slight was his touch that the decision was referred to the video umpire.
Even after this goal did not spur South Africa to a more aggressive performance. In fact it was England who now took control of the match.
