QUALIFICATION

As second of pool B Pakistan qualified undefeated. At the 2003 Asia Cup Pakistan missed the qualification only scarcely: in the finals Pakistan lost against India 2:4.

COACH

In August Shahnaz Sheikh replaced Asif Bajwa as coach and manager. He will only guide the team for a short period of time during the World Cup in Mönchengladbach. It was agreed that after the WC he will be replaced by a foreign coach. He had been head coach various times, the last time in 2003.

Shahnaz Sheikh is a very famous hockey player - winning the silver medal at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich and was member of the World Champion Team in 1978 (Buenos Aires).
